Contributing to the University of Maryland's land grant mission, the Hamby lab works to improve agricultural sustainability and productivity using the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) paradigm. IPM is a science-based decision-making process that uses multifaceted management approaches to increase profitability while protecting human health and the environment. Our specific fundamental and applied research interests include invasive insect pest management, insect-fungal interactions, insect and host crop seasonal phenology, insecticide resistance, evaluating and mitigating non-target impacts of insecticides, and developing novel sustainable management approaches.
